Alpha has joined forces with global marine charity, Whale and Dolphin Conservation (WDC), to raise awareness of the shocking impact waste has on our oceans.
Protecting marine life is an important part of sustainability and (if you didn’t know), it’s something very close to our hearts. So far, with your help, we have managed to raise over £12,000 for the WDC, which has gone towards The SEALIFE Trust Beluga Sanctuary Project. According to finder.com, 7% of the UK population are vegetarian, making it the most common non-meat diet. With 4% of population following a pescatarian diet and 1% on the vegan diet, around 6.5 million British adults are totally meat-free. With many people reliant on transportation within their day to day lifestyles, the world is under significant pressure to develop new, more sustainable ways to cope with the current demands. The department for transport highlighted how, in 2017, 808 billion kilometres were travelled by passengers in the UK alone – the highest volume ever recorded. So, although some people turn a blind eye and often dismiss sustainable transportation methods, as they’re regularly seen as less convenient or a slower method, it still remains an issue that needs addressing.
