Your Holiday Selfie is at Risk and we Reveal the Reason Why!

If you have the feeling you've left something behind and cannot pinpoint what it is - don't fear, you're certainly not alone. It's all too easy to forget something when trying to get organised for a holiday, especially if you're trying to keep track of the whole family and their packing too, as well as your own! With clothes, travel insurance, medicines, toys for the kids, and a mountain of other things to keep track of, things can become quite hectic if you don't make a habit of keeping checklists and staying organised.

While a mobile phone or computer charger is the most commonly forgotten item, British tourists forget other important essentials such as travel insurance, sun cream and even their passport!

Whilst you may think that men are most likely to forget something with their wife or partner being the most organised out of the two, the survey that polled 2,000 travellers revealed that the sexes are in fact equal when it comes to leaving things behind. Age wise, the over 55's were surprisingly not the most forgetful, with those aged between 16 and 24 being the worst travel packing offenders.

16% admitted to forgetting to pack their charger (a third of all 16-24 year olds questioned) whilst 1/20 left their medication at home! Despite just 2% admitting to not bringing their passport with them to the airport, the survey showed that those who lived in London were most likely to forget this item than those who lived elsewhere.

Interestingly just 1 per cent of those who took part in the survey forgot to bring a suitcase with them (we're not sure how that one was managed!), whilst 2% forgot to check-in in advance and bring their boarding pass - a potential costly error - so it is especially important to plan everything you need to bring well in advance of your holiday.

The top 10 forgotten items of the survey are:

  1. Charger
  2. Sun cream
  3. Camera
  4. Toiletries
  5. Medication
  6. Flip flops
  7. Driving license
  8. Travel money
  9. Travel insurance
  10. Boarding pass (after online check in)
